In 1976, Electrecord compiled several fairy tales by Ion Creangă on a vinyl record. Three of them—The Goat with Three Kids, The Coin Purse with Two Coins, and The Bear Fooled by the Fox—had previously been released on 7-inch records in 1966. As a bonus, the fourth story, Human Foolishness, narrated by the great actor Ion Caramitru, was added in the year of the LP’s release, under the title Fairy Tales by Ion Creangă.
With this release, the record label reaffirmed its commitment to the treasure trove of Romanian children's literature, with important voices from the national stage bringing Creangă’s characters to life: Dinu Ianculescu, Mia Macri, Boris Ciornei, Ileana Șerban, Mircea Constantinescu, Virginia Stoicescu, and others. The record cover artwork, created by artist Ion Drugă—considered Romania’s first science fiction illustrator—became a work of art in itself.
For Children's Day, Electrecord is launching a collector’s edition of this LP with a newly remastered version, available in vinyl, cassette, and CD formats, continuing its program of reviving and reissuing the most important titles from its archive.
